Father Sean Kenney
Born on September 18, 1960 in West Islip, Long Island, Father Sean is the 4th of 9 children born of John and Frances Kenney. His brothers Kevin (deceased), Paul, Gavin, and Colin (deceased), Neil, Michael, and sisters Kerry and Maryanna, their spouses and 14 nephews and nieces live along the East Coast, upstate New York, Long Island, Northern Virginia and Florida.
Father Sean's family is lifelong parishioners of Saint Lawrence The Martyr Parish in Sayville, Long Island. He attended grades one through eight at Saint Lawrence the Martyr Parish school and graduated from Sayville H.S. in 1979. Following graduation, Father Sean joined the order of Friars Minor (Franciscans) in Kennebunkport, Maine. After simple profession, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy at Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut. He studied Theological Studies for two years in Seminary at St. Anthony-on-Hudson in Rensselaer, New York. He then returned to Holy Apostles Seminary to complete a Masters in Divinity. Following his Ordination on May 25, 1991, Father Sean was appointed Parochial Vicar and served in the following parishes: • St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen, from 1991-1994. He has been at our Lady of the Mount since April 2005. He was the parish administrator until he was installed as Pastor on April 23, 2006. |
